Peeking behind the screen, Part 1

On Thursday night I ran my first adventure as a dungeon master. I've been playing 4th edition somewhat regularly with some friends since winter, and as our normal DM finished off a big arc he had been working on, I volunteered to try out my own.

I played DND a handful of times in middle school and high school, but I'm by no means a lifer. Still, I have a great time with the storytelling and the joking around, so I leaped at the chance to spin my own yarn for some friends.

Our characters are all around level 5-- the middle of the "heroic tier". We've been fighting lots of undead creatures, some gnolls, some werewolves, some kobolds, a hydra, and one low-level dragon. Our party is a diverse group of rabble-rousers: changeling wizard, tiefling warlock, changeling rogue, dragonborn paladin, dragonborn ranger, gnome dwarf shaman, elf ranger, and human warlord (RIP). The human warlord, our former DM's character, had been corrupted and turned into a death knight. My character, Soo Banebath-- a zealous dragonborn paladin, had the dubious honor of beheading him after he turned on the team. Also on that same adventure, the port city our party calls home was sacked by a zombie horde. That's all you need to know for now.

My adventure is called Meet Sheep the Royal, or Toast to the Immortal Memory. In my next entry I will document for you how the story goes, how the characters reacted, and what I learned.
